“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT
Let me introduce myself, I’m Travis, prophet, fur baby daddy, makeup artist, coach and CSR extraordinaire! My personal health, wellness and fitness journey started when I was in high school. I started practicing yoga in my mid teens. Around that same time I became interested in complementary and alternative medicine. By my late teens and into my early twenties I had trained in and received certificates in a few different healing modalities, emphasizing a holistic view of a person. As well as training as a Peer Counsellor and sexual health educator while volunteering at a youth centre, in rural BC.
Moving to Vancouver, I worked full time, going to the gym and hiring a couple of different personal trainers. I ended up studying makeup artistry at Blanche MacDonald Centre, completing the Global Makeup Diploma program. It was at this time that I realized my passion for transformation.
After several years I ended up moving back to rural BC, where I began learning belly dancing, Egyptian/oriental and American Tribal Style (ATS). And was lead to my next adventure, a discovery and journey of faith. Spending time in Toronto where I attended the School of Ministry at Catch the Fire, and went over seas on a missions trip. I have also completed ministry courses through Morris Cerullo World Evangelism. While being actively involved in local church’s and ministries.
If it hasn’t become obvious by this point, let me just say I LOVE to learn.
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
I Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV
Now I am sure you are asking, what does all this have to do with personal training? Well I firmly believe that physical fitness is only one piece of the puzzle so to speak. A truly holistic approach to health, fitness and wellness must include the whole triune person, Body (physical), Soul (mental) and Spirit (spiritual). These three aspects are interconnected and make up the whole person. This is how my world view is coloured and how I approach my own life and journey. And it is from this place, utilizing all my skills and knowledge, that I will work with you to build a unique personalized program to help you achieve your goals.
Through ISSA I am continuing to learn and build on my skills and knowledge.
TRAIN, TRANSFORM, THRIVE.
